This Was An Experience For The Books

On the 27th of June, BassCatalogue linked up with Playhows for our first ever activation together, and if this is a sign of what's to come, we're here for it. Games Night wasn't just an event, it was a full reset button on how socialising should feel: no pressure, no small talk fatigue, just good games, good people, and good energy in one room.

The Games

The lineup was built to keep everyone moving between tables all night. Board game classics like 30 Seconds had squads shouting over each other trying to beat the clock, while the balloon games brought the chaos, the kind of competitive nonsense that turns strangers into teammates in under five minutes. It was the perfect mix: structured enough to spark real competition, loose enough that nobody was taking themselves too seriously.

The Vibe

This is what made the night click. Games Night stripped away the usual stiffness of a "networking event" and replaced it with something that actually felt like a hangout. People weren't standing around with drinks making forced conversation, they were locked into rounds, laughing, trash-talking, and forming genuine connections without even realising that's what was happening. That's the real win of an activation like this: the networking happens as a byproduct of people just having a good time.

The Crowd

The room was stacked with familiar faces from the content and influencer space, with YouTuber Lebogang Leisa pulling through with his team to add to the energy. Having creators in the mix meant the night carried that extra buzz, the kind that comes when the people documenting culture are also the ones living it in real time.

Big Thanks to Our Partners

None of this happens without the right people showing up for it. Buhle Jongilanga, Brand Manager at Heineken Beverages, and Sindi Thwala, Marketing Manager at Monster Energy, came through with refreshments and hospitality that kept the room fuelled and the energy high all night. And a massive shoutout to Keowin Knowlden, who sponsored the R1000 Takealot voucher that had everyone playing that little bit harder for the win.

And Our Winner For The Night Was...

Tshegofatso walked away as the champion of the night, taking home the R1000 Takealot voucher after having fully participated in the games and becoming the winner. A well-earned win and a great way to close out BassCatalogue's first activation with Playhows.

This is just the beginning. If Games Night was the opener, we can't wait to see what's next.
